Sports Superstar…Academic All-American…Record-Setting
Salesman…Popular Friend…Devoted Husband…Loving
Father…Suicide Victim
Each of these traits could be used to describe
the same person. That person was Tim Ardis.
Tim was a young man that was the envy of
nearly everyone who knew him. An uncommon
success in virtually everything he ever
tried, Tim seemed to typify the life to
which most people aspire. Family and friends
alike viewed Tim with a certain combination
of admiration and pride.
But Tim had a secret.
Tim suffered from recurring clinical depression,
possibly in addition to other mental illness.
Over time he had become equally adept at
overcoming his recurring bouts and concealing
their existence from those around him. Despite
his success at striking this balance, Tim
came to a point where he could no longer
win the battle with depression on his own,
and yet could not reason clearly enough
to seek appropriate help. He decided on
what some call “a permanent solution to
a temporary problem” by taking his own life
less than three months after his 30th birthday.
The Tim Ardis Foundation for Hope was founded
with the goal of preventing this inconceivable
tragedy from happening to others. |
